I Heart Seattle (because no one else does)

Please welcome "I Heart Seattle - because no one else does" to the Blackbird blogroll. I'd only discovered this volcano of Seattle goodness today. They wrote a kind review of our ACNE Jeans on the 27th and I was alerted by mysterious emailer.

What a great blog! This is the rougher Seattle I know and love but see very little of these days. The Stranger and The Rocket used to write like this and it's refreshing to discover a new source of authentic, edgy, opinionated journalism. Good reading.

Thanks IHSBNOED for covering our Swedish Jeans and for liking Blackbird.

You're Our Best Advertising

I'm sure you've heard many times that word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. As a small business owner I can honestly say it's a fact! Most of our customers find out about us from friends, family and from "word of mouth" sites like Citysearch and Judy's Book. Our ratings and reviews on these sites plus personal testimonials are what inspire people to get in their cars, drive to ballard and find what they were looking for at Blackbird. Was that how you found out about us? Or was it The Stranger? Either way, word of mouth is powerful.

If you have some time, check out these sites and read our reviews. If you have some time, review Blackbird and maybe a few of your favorite (or least favorite) boutiques. The little guys appreciate your support.

Side note: Did you know that Blackbird was voted Seattle Citysearch 5th Best Men's Store for 2005"? This was such an honor. Thanks to everyone who voted!

Please Welcome Seattle Chic

Seattle Chic is a one woman operation specialized in spreading information about Seattle boutique shopping to us fashion starved Seattleites. The site contains a sales & events calendar, product reviews and boutique listings. If you sign up for her mailing list, she will send you product updates just like we do here at Blackbird (except with less errors and better formatting).

I've added a link to Seattle Chic in our Pals area of the Blackbird side bar for ease.

Check out Seattle Chic today.

All New Initium Sunglasses for Summer 2006

We've received 39 new styles and colors of Initium sunglasses to stock our brand spanking new case. This is a sight to see. The case is a tall skinny black wood obelisk with a curved clear plexiglass door and inside are around 40 white plexiglass shelves that are backlight in white. I've never seen sunglasses displayed better.

The new styles range from an updated version of the old time "Blue Blockers" to classic Ray Ban styles. Most styles are Polarized and are made with glass lenses.

Trovata Boys Recommend on GQ's Men.Style.com

The boys of summer (Sam, Josia, Jeff and John) are at it again with another round of self promotion. This time they're pushing suntan lotion along with those Initium Trovata Aviators (we love so much) and we like it! Check out their top ten picks for Summer 2006: LINK

Vintage Polaroid Land Camera - If you are going to own a Polaroid instant camera why not sport a vintage model? They're cheep to buy and take the same film. I recommend using black & white film for extra cool points.

Giles & Brother Necklace - We unfortunately do not carry this brand but I am tell you that a huge trend towards men's jewelry is about to blow up. Blackbird has quite the selection right now: Surface to Air necklaces and multi-finger rings, 16th century sterling silver necklaces (more details soon), Steven Shein acrylic pendants and more. Trust me on this one guys.

Trovata Aviators - Yes, we've sold quite a few but there are a few pairs remaining $250

Trovata "Guide" Tank Top - When are you guys going to realize that once it starts getting really hot in Seattle, all of the tank tops, flip-flops and shorts are sold out. Never fear, I know you have no plans of changing so I ordered extra. We have the "Guide" tank and another by RVCA and I must say that they are not as scary on a person as you would think. If you have hairy shoulders, you might pass, but most fellas I know can rock the tank.

Corn at Cafe Habana NYC - Uh... I think about the corn every day...every single day.

Thanks Trovata boys! I like how your think.

Japanese Deadstock Casio Watches

I think it's safe to say that ALL Blackbird customers were alive in the 80's; whether you were nineteen, thirteen or two I bet you were there. So you might recall these Casio video game watches. Tell time AND swing through the jungle.

These watches have been sitting in a Japanese warehouse for the past twenty years and are in mint condition. We have four games to choose from, each selling for $128. These are not our photos, so please note that our watches are in mint condition with the original Japanese labels on the strap.
