TONIGHT IN BALLARD

Local design studio Society Co is hosting a party in celebration of the release of Bad Ideas; a DIY xeroxed zine showcasing posters by local designers. The event will feature an exhibition of posters featured in the zine, as well as a performance by Blackbird sales guy and spirit, Charles Leo Gebhardt IV. Leo is also featured on a limited edition compilation CD released to accompany the zine, along with a handful of other local musicians.

The event is free and runs from 8-11PM.
The space is located at 2221 NW 56th, Suite 203 in Ballard. If you need help finding your way, just stop by Blackbird.

DETAILS: A seemingly basic hoodie with typical DBSS treatment. The fit is long and slim, exaggerated slightly moreso by the slongated hem at the base. The fit goes well with a number of different styles and is also very unisex. The fabric has a sporty heathered gray color and inner-side a very soft and comfortable terry lining. The hood is double layered with double layering also down in the upper-neck area to create a partial lining. Slight distressing along the edges. Double zipper. 100% cotton. Made in Japan.

Diet Butcher Slim Skin - D92C378 Pocket T-Shirt

DETAILS: A rather extreme take on basics. This t-shirt has an elongated cut with slim fit through the shoulders/sleeves but a more oversized fit through the rest of the body. The sides feature the interesting detail of big pockets, making this a surprisingly useful t-shirt for anyone on the go during the summertime. The hem is torn up and meant to be washed and worn to achieve a completely unique personal look. The stitching along the two main portions of the body are unfinished, allowing the stitch to trail down past the hem. Main body is made from a strong, finely woven cotton while the yoke is made from an outer layer of 50% silk/50% cotton blend with very soft and comfortable 100% tencel. By using this fabric combinationfor the yoke, the t-shirt can feel very breathable and refreshing during hot summer days. Made in Japan.

DETAILS: The Stranglers logo-parady tank top made with cut-off sleeves detailing. The neckline and sleeve hems are made of a combination of black ribbed ribbed cotton layered with the raw cut-off edges of the main portion of the body. Main body is a soft and light cotton with heathered color. Back yoke is made up of the same soft black ribbed cotton as the hems; double layered but still very breathable and airy. "The Stragglers" is embroidered quite beautifully and the print below it has a slightly glossy texture. 100% cotton. Made in Japan.

Hot off the press......

Friend of Blackbird and founder/designer of Odyn Vovk, Austin Sherbanenko is in the process of building his own store by appointment / showroom / studio space, which we are temporarily deeming the Odyn Vovk Emporium (or Odynvovkorium) in downtown Los Angeles. With this new space, Austin also intends to bring all sewing in house, which is very exciting news.

Included with these re-stocks is more of the incredibly popular Rum Tonic fragrance. This fragrance sells out quickly every time it arrives at the store and for quite a while now our stock has remained depleted. Malin+Goetz finally received a new batch, though, and promptly sent it our way!

DETOX FACE MASK WINS ALLURE 'BEST OF BEAUTY'

This may be old news to most people, but late last year Malin+Goetz's foaming Detox Face Mask won the Allure Magazine editor's choice award for the best deep-cleansing face mask. The face mask is a very gentle and is suitable for weekly use on all skin types. A very easy-to-use product which achieves very great results!
