DETAILS: Pitch colored moccasin chukka boots with square leather laces through two blind eyelets. Waxy contrast stitching at toe. Featuring a 360 double welt brown leather midsole with a natural crepe rubber sole for flexibility, traction, and comfort.

These loafers are bench made using genuine true moccasin construction, meaning the leather from the upper fully wraps under the wearer's foot. This is the traditional method of making handsewns and is a sign of quality.

BLACKBIRD - HAZLEWOOD IN JAPANESE NEP DENIM

DETAILS: Meet Blackbird's newest in-house designed jean, the Hazlewood in Japanese Nep Denim. This denim has neps in it which cause a slightly uneven texture and little white dots throughout. This jean was inspired by Ballard bar Hazlewood (think Lee Hazlewood) and its owner Drew Church. A few years ago, Drew created a Blackbird cocktail which contains squid ink and remains a staple drink to-date. Hazlewood is about the size of a postage stamp and generally where you will find the Blackbird gang and our favorite customers sipping old-timey inspired creations. MADE IN U.S.A., 5-Pocket jean, raw 13 oz. Japanese Nep denim in extra dark indigo, dirty dark brown/gold stitching, all black unbranded hardware, extra tough over-stitched belt loops, chain-stitched hem in varied lengths sizes: 29 - 36 (32 and 34 lengths) Sizing recommendations: Fits true to size. Size down if you prefer a slimmer fit. If you are familiar with the Hazlewood, these have a more straight leg.

Hauff's Department Store, Ballard

The Hauff's Department Store Boot was designed by Blackbird in collaboration with Alden of New England, makers of custom boots since 1884. These boots are inspired by our love of early 20th century gentleman's attire. Every man needed a sturdy pair of dress boots like these to act as the workhorse of his wardrobe. The name of the boot comes from the idea that back-in-the-day you have might have found this boot for sale at Ballard's first department store, Hauff's, which was originally located on Ballard Ave (between 1913 to 1918) and then moved to the the ground floor of the Ballard Building on Market Street where Blackbird's corporate offices now reside. If you are looking for a tough, comfortable, and versatile boot to work into your wardrobe, look no further.

ICELANDIC ARTIST SHOPLIFTER IS BEAUTIFYING BALLARD

At this very moment, New York-based Icelandic artist Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir--aka Shoplifter--is at work in Ballard, bringing color, life, curiosity and mystery to this pleasant hamlet.

Shoplifter is in town to curate the Nordic Fashion Biennale's showpiece exhibition "Looking Back to Find Our Future." In addition, she has taken the time to create a marvelous window display in The Field House. Stop by the shop and take a peek!

Shoplifter's work has been shown and published all over the world, especially in New York City where she lives. She is well known for her collaboration with Björk and for her commissioned work for the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Her body of work as a whole exists in the gray area between visual art, performance, and design.

Her work is simultaneously comical, romantic, silly and beautiful with the theme of vanity as a connecting thread.
