Cheap Monday in GQ

GQ online has this to say about the Swedish denim line:

"What's the latest trend in the rarefied world of designer denim? Believe it or not, a lower price tag. "A lot of people are over inflated prices," says Humberto Leon of New York boutique Opening Ceremony. "They only want to spend what they think the jeans are worth." What's more, a growing number of brands are responding to this nascent consumer backlash. Topping shoppers' wish lists at Opening Ceremony and beyond is Cheap Monday, the appropriately named Swedish label that clocks in at $65 a pair. Of course, you could spend that at an Army & Navy outlet or—dare we say it—chain store, but, notes Leon, "Cheap Monday has a more fashion-forward fit.""

We'll be getting Cheap Monday this Fall. There may or may not be an event around the arrival. We will keep you updated.

Suits Are Back!

With all the talk about men's suiting this last year, few Northwest men have bought into dressing up for work and play. Things are about to change. According to the press, suits are back and according to Blackbird, our men are buying.

To back up this trend, the September issue of Details magazine features a fantastic four page spread (pg 302-305) on four modern men's suiting looks. The September issue of GQ (pg 340-347) features a fun and detailed article on suit buying, complete with lots of pictures and a 10-step, fool-proof program.

Both magazines also have a few pictures of items we're carrying in-store right now:

GQ shows our Filippa K blazer on pg. 131
Modern Amusement sweater vest and APC "New Standard" jeans on pg. 132
Acne Jeans "Max Cash" skinny jeans on pg. 154

RVCA in the New York Times

Check out this cool article about RVCA from yesterday's New York Times. See? We're not wrong!

Fall Modern Amusement

If Modern Amusement hasn't been your thing in the past, we might just change your mind. The theme for the collection is "Mods vs. Trads" like the nerdy guy vs. tough guy idea. The fall season consists of a lot of dark colors, and has a more grown up feel because of the classic basic pieces and an increase in fabric quality. There are less logos, and the most of them are tone on tone. While a few pieces still have fun details that Modern Amusement is known for, they're more wearable than in the past.

100% wool knit cardigan in Precision Black $140

(soft, not crazy, and really nice)

Super 100's wool pinstripe snap collar jacket with satin lining $160

Tropical wool and nylon knit cut & sew (ala Project Runway) track jacket $140

100% Tropical wool vest in Manchester Grey $115

Surface to Air - New York

Surface to Air is a New York and Paris based artistic collective that produces their own men's, women's, t-shirt and accessories lines. We started carrying their jewelry in May, and our first Fall t-shirt shipment has just arrived from New York!

We really like how everything fits. The tees and hoodies have a short and slim cut. The hoodies have wide waistbands and cuffs and their fleece is really soft and light weight.
