THE ROCKFORD FILES: WOLVERINE 1000 MILE ROCKFORD BOOTS
If you haven't seen our Wolverine Rockford 1000 Mile boots, here is a pair that was bought just after we got them in. The style is part of the Wolverine 1000 boot collection and features the same all-American construction and Horween tanned leather that their world famous 1000 Mile work boot is known for. The Rockford features all the decorum of a vintage dress shoe style plus the ox strong craftsmanship of the 1000 boot.
These boots are just over a month old and owned by one of our design magi, Andrew Swanson. We've been watching them slowly acquire wear on them and finally had to take some pictures and share them with you. After these snapshots were taken, we asked Andrew if he could explain a few of the finer points about these boots. He was all too happy to comply:
"At first glance, I thought the details on the Rockford that distinguish it from the original 1000 Mile Boot—the toe cap and side panel stitching—seemed a little distracting. But, when I got the damn things on I realized that the detailing is extremely subtle, and that visually they read as plain black boots. I've grown very fond of those understated design considerations, and they look good dressed up or down. I'll be wearing these every day until they fall off of my feet (although my feet may fall off first)."
"Unlike the various and sundry boots that I've owned in the past, there was no initial period of squeaking discomfort. The wearing has been pleasant from step one, and they have held their form nicely. I've been known to destroy a pair of shoes in short order, usually in about a tenth of the time that it takes for the average man to do so. Despite this, my Rockfords are really holding up, and I trust that they'll continue to endure the very worst that I will inevitably put them through. It's not just a clever name, you know?"
Feel free to send us pictures of your own 1000 Mile boots, whatever the style may be. We'd like to make this an ongoing series heretofore known as The Rockford Files. Not to be confused with the 70's crime caper drama series starring James Garner. Who? What? Here's a link to the famous t.v. show that featured synth'd out theme songs, legendary car chases and cheesy one liners:
We're amazed at how well these boots age and how quickly they develop their own personal patina. And as quick as they've been selling, they're destined to give the original 1000 Mile boot a run for their popularity. Though we're running low on stock, we've already placed another order and will get more soon. Until then, stay tuned for more Rockford Files...
