When the American economy went south, Blackbird made the decision to invest in brands that produced their products in stateside.  Our goal was to keep our dollars here which meant  we were going to create jobs in our country.  At that time, our list of American made brands totaled around 8 but today we boast over 32, and Alden's factory went from a 2 month turn around time to 6 months and Redwing has added more shifts that produce 300 more pair a day.  Something is working.
