BALLARD HOLIDAY SHOPPING HOURS

Here's the funny story... according to long time Ballard business owner Kathy Casey of Dish D' Lish, Curtis (Steiner) of Souvenir spearheaded a program 8 years ago when Ballard first started getting more stores and restaurants. It was coined Ballard Red Light Nights (in honor of the old brothel still running on Ballard Ave at that time) and he got everyone a big red lantern to hang in front of their shop/restaurant/store if they were open late on Thursdays. It got a lot of fun press and went on for quite a while.

In an effort to keep Ballard alive (literally), many businesses have agreed to bring back the Thursday night late hours for the holidays along with promoting special events, free refreshments and holiday deals/offers on that night. Some shops, like Blackbird will have red lights in our windows on Thursdays and others will simply be open. You will see us. Please come shopping or just stop in to listen to music and hang out with your neighborhood friends.
