70s PUNK STYLE FROM JAPAN

In the late 70s Japanese band Friction was at the forefront of the "Tokyo Rockers" punk scene. The band was formed by vocalist/bassist Reck upon his return from New York where he was playing in legendary no wave bands The Contortions and Teenage Jesus & the Jerks. Both the music and "look" takes a lot from the New York punk scene while also incorporating some heavier rock and psychedelic elements. Richard Hell's dress style seems particularly influential!

The below video was filmed at the "Live Tokyo Rockers" event in 1979 for a film by the same name...

and for good measure, one more piece of insanity, recorded for the same the same 1979 film. The band is the legendary and short-lived Kansai/Osaka-area "SS".
