RECORD LABEL OF THE MONTH: CASTLE FACE

OUR AUGUST RECORD LABEL OF THE MONTH IS...

Castle Face Records is John Dwyer's (of thee oh sees, and oh, so much more) brainchild. With only three releases Castle Face has captured a really, distorted, blown-out glimpse of the bay area's lo-fi garage scene. We have two outta the three releases, and right now we are probably the only store who hasn't sold out of these 1st edition copies, but that's only because you guys didn't know we sold records, right...(wink wink)

Here's what we have for you!

Ty Segall - S/T
LP
DETAILS: This is the kid that is killing me right now. I cant stop listening to this record, and when I'm listening to it, I cant stop myself from hootin' and hollerin'! Its just really freaking good. This is his first solo record, when he was still playing as a one man band, he played a bass drum with a tambourine duct-taped to the front and a hi-hat with his feet, guitar with his hands, and sings simultaneously it was NUTS!

This is what I'm talking about:

Fresh and Onlys - S/T
LP
DETAILS: With five releases this year on five different labels (chuffed, Dirty Knobby, no foot boogie tapes, Woodsist, HoZac) you would think there would be no time for touring: WRONG! These guys never stop, they just got done with a cool little tour with the legendary Rodriguez and show no signs of stopping. Don't hurt yourself boys, we love your tunes too much!
