BAXTER OF CALIFORNIA - BRAVADO 3
DETAILS: Bravado 3 reminds us of something, but we can't quite put our finger on what exactly it is; some scent from the past that caught our eye and disappeared into anonymity before returning to us in a different form, something clean and classic. It's the sportiest fragrance we've got in the Apothecary, and we hesitate using the word sporty not only because of its connotation but also because the fragrance is definitely more fresh than it is sporty. Though relatively speaking, and for the sake of offering something a little different, we're gonna call it sporty, and we mean that in the best way possible. It smells like it would make you a better tennis player, like it belongs on your boat next to your box of cigars, like you could apply it mid-day in the mid-Summer and still smell cool, collected, and sexy at midnight. It builds on the citrus foundation laid out by Bravado 2, but the inclusion of lavender and nutmeg works to bring out much more character than offered by its predecessor. The woods are also more apparent in Bravado 3, along with a more substantial musk note, which still don't overpower but do give the scent a warmer, more diverse feel to it. The result is a brilliant display of tradition, with a citrus top-note, herby-floral-spicy character, and a woody-musky base, one might go as far as to call it chypre. NOTES: bergamot, mandarin, nutmeg, lavender, light florals, woods, musk.
