For over a decade, Robert Geller has been at the forefront of fashion. First under the Marc Jacobs banner, then with short-lived, iconoclastic Cloak brand (with Alexandre Plokhov - also coming soon to Blackbird), Geller honed an aesthetic that blossomed into not only his own eponymous line, but also secured him the GQ/CFDA Best New Menswear Designer Award in February, 2009.

For S/S 2012, Geller returns with all of the understated flair and design expertise he is known for and spices it all up with fabric combinations and detail flourishes that continue his long standing record for distinct, intelligent menswear.

SALE ITEM OF THE DAY: ROBERT GELLER HEINRICH CARDIGAN

One of the more killer items currently on sale at Blackbird is the Robert Geller Heinrich cardigan sweater. This piece was made in Japan and features a partially ribbed neckline and raglan sleeves in addition to two asymmetrical external seams - one from the left collar runs diagonally to the left back and the other runs diagonally from center back to the right front of the sweater. These contrasting details add a considerable edge to the standard cardigan and set it apart as something completely unique.

Combining a multitude of influences including romantic, dandyism and rock and roll, he uses the finest textiles and Japanese manufacturing to bring men's wear into the spotlight by redefining the rules. The sale item of the week is the Academy Coat in moss from Robert Geller. Militant formalism and classic top coat embellishments dig in their visual heels to pronounce upon the world the ultimate in a fitted trench coat that harkens back to the decorum of the 1960's English Mod.

The Academy Coat is a knee-length overcoat in a subtly vibrant moss hue that is made from the squarish weave of a lightweight 55/45 cotton and linen blend. Featuring a folded wing-shaped collar, single-breasted 5 button closure with dark wooden buttons, buttoned epaulets at the shoulders, a waist belt with brass buckle, vertical welt pockets with button-flap closure, interior stash pocket and a single vent in back.

Francis Bacon: Study for a Portrait, after the life mask of William Blake, 1955

Francis Bacon (28 October 1909 – 28 April 1992), was an Irish-born British figurative painter known for his bold, austere, graphic and emotionally raw imagery. Bacon's painterly but abstract figures typically appear isolated in glass or steel geometrical cages set against flat, nondescript backgrounds. He began painting during his early 20s and worked only sporadically until his mid 30s. Before this time he drifted, earning his living as an interior decorator and designer of furniture and rugs. Later, he admitted that his career was delayed because he had spent too long looking for a subject that would sustain his interest. His breakthrough came with the 1944 triptych Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion, and it was this work and his heads and figures of the late 1940s through to the mid 1950s that sealed his reputation as a notably bleak chronicler of the human condition.
