Blackbird Blog: COMME des GARÇONS WALLETS

Rei Kawakubo, along with Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake, formed a triumvirate of Japanese designers who came prominence in the 1980s as part of Japan's DC Brand Boom" (DC being short for Designers & Characters).

The house Kawakubo founded, Comme des Garçons, is well-known both for it's influential ready-to-wear lines and innovative retail experiences. Many of you have probably heard of the brand's flagship store in London, Dover Street Market, which features all of Kawakubo's different lines as well as granting selected designers (Galliano, Lanvin, Givenchy, Dior Homme, as well as many others) space within the store, which they can design however they wish.

Also notable are the Comme des Garçons "Guerilla" stores, which open in areas around the world (Helinski, Athens, Beirut), and close after a year.

Blackbird is carrying Comme des Garçons signature wallet and fragrance line starting this Autumn season, complete with a beautiful new display case for all the goods. The wallets shown below are just a sample of what we have in stock at the store right now; we are going to be providing much better photographs very shortly, but for now we're just so excited about carrying this line that we just want to get the information out there as quickly as possible! Stay tuned for information on the fragrances as well.
