L'ARTISAN PARFUMEUR - COEUR DE VETIVER SACREThe newest addition to our Apothecary shelves is a spicy and decadent homage to Vetiver, that most-excellent perfume ingredient well-known for its deep, sweet vegetal aroma and amber woodiness; a divine blending of floral sweetness with dark, rich earthiness. The Coeur de Vetiver Sacre is a celebration of those core elements of the ingredient, and breaks them down before reconstructing them into a subtle, stirring, swirling smokey masterpiece of scent. Wearing this fragrance evokes an experience akin to what Lord Byron might have found on his travels to Turkey in his youth: pushing through a noisy market-place filled with overflowing sacks of saffron, coriander, pink pepper, oranges, lemons and ginger, their rich aromas enchanting the soul and stunning the senses. In a swoon, the young man stumbles down a narrow alley and is pulled through a low doorway and into a smoke-filled tea-shop. Dirt floors are strewn with animal-hide rugs; luscious smoke and exotic vapors perfume the air; men and women lie in concubinary heaps, propped up with dusty pillows. A sense of opiated calm surrounds the man, who is at peace with the inherent danger that lies in this unknown world.
