INTRODUCING: BLACKBIRD TRUSTY WORK APRONS
Back in the good old days, there was an outpost for sailors and mountain men here in Ballard called The Field House. As a tribute to those golden times, we have brought back our Trusty Work Aprons. This third version comes in four brand new colors: Sludge, Soot Gray, Blacksmith and Tobacco and retained all of the hardy characteristics that make this apron perfect for your woodworking, alchemy and dragon slaying projects.
Ballard is the off-season home to Alaska's fish and crab boat fleets, where boats are maintained and repaired blocks away from our Blackbird stores. This makes our neighborhood full of colorful salty dog types smoking pipes, drinking beers and telling of their adventures at sea. Our neighborhood and its sailmaking/canvas supply shops gave us the idea of making a tough as nails, functioning work apron for any use. The first and second versions were made in Ballard, but since then the company that did the work went out of business and the building has been condemned.
- Heavy cotton canvas
- Criss-cross harness system with 3/4'' cotton webbing
- Leather reinforced grommets
- 2 chest pockets - one intended for a calculator, the other for a carpenter's pencil and drafting compass
- Large pouch pocket divided for nails, screws, and various tools with a flap to keep our sawdust and debris
- Tyvek label with space for your name, address and occupation: Chandler, Luthier, Smithy, Carpenter, Cobbler, Cook, Alchemist or Other.
