REPORTING FROM SEOUL FASHION WEEK: DAY TWO

The day started with a group of Korean high school or college girls coming up to Matt on the subway to tell him he was on a lot of blogs.  Turns out, it was true.

Day two was the last day of mainly menswear shows.  The big standout this day was a young designer named Munsoo Kwon.  Munsoo studied under Blackbird favorite Robert Geller after finishing school in San Francisco.  He also went on to work with Helmut Lang and Thom Browne before launching his own line in Seoul a year ago.  His concept for this show was "Kidult" with a lot of great pieces that co-opted a very kid like style into a more sophisticated, adult look.  Our favorite pieces included some Polka Dot jeans and the long plaid shirts.

After another day full of menswear shows, we got to go to a welcoming party thrown by the Council of Fashion Designers of Korea.  This was our first opportunity to meet a lot of international members of the press, other buyers and designers.  One of the highlights was seeing Hong Seok Cheon (one of a handful of South Korea's openly gay celebrities) dance with Lie Sang Bong (one of the most famous designers in Korea).

After a rambunctious party and two long days, it was time to get some rest to prepare for exploring with Mr. Brown and a few other friends.
