Our good friend and master salesmen Umi Wagoner is leaving Blackbird to manage a new store in Los Angeles, California .  We will all miss his patience, grace and superior workmanship; he is an exceptional human.  If you are also a friend and fan of Umi please take some time to wish him all the best on his newest adventure by dropping in or sending an email.

James Gillespie came to Seattle with a dream of making music and learning about the West.  After a year exactly, his lease is up, he knows the difference between a honey dipper and a backscratcher, went camping for the first time, ate his first s'more, pushed us to return to Paris for buying trips and produced our first Blackbird runway show.  Now it is time for him to return to New York, record his album and continue his journey.  He's a unicorn.  He will be missed tremendously.

To James and Umi - You left your indelible mark on Blackbird and you will always be part of our family. My greatest thanks and respect.  -Nicole

LARS ANDERSSON: WOMEN'S F/W '10 IS HERE

Lars Andersson's Fall/Winter '10 Women's collection has made its way to Blackbird, just in time for the arctic takeover of our little City. Inspired by the dark artistry of Odd Nerdrum, the women's collection offers the same whimsical darkness as the men's collection and is full of beautiful drapes set on an incredible dark color pallet. All of the pieces in the collection have been hand-made by Lars Andersson in his Brooklyn studio, which is one more reason to love this label.

The collection is now available in Blackbird and until we get it up online we'll be happy to take orders over the phone or via e-mail for those of you outside of Seattle.

STAYING WARM AND STYLISH IN THE SNOW: ALDEN'S KUDU LEATHER BOOT

The heavily treated water-resistant leather and rugged lug sole make the Alden 404 Indy Boot absolutely ideal for snowy conditions such as today in Seattle. Throw these on over a comfy pair of Pendleton Comfort Tough Wool Socks (also available in gray) and you are good to go.

I myself have a pair of these boots and find them to be suited for any condition or terrain you throw at them. Today's snow was the final test and they passed with flying colors. My feet remained nice and dry and, while everyone was slipping and sliding across the icy sidewalks, the lug sole kept my feet perfectly stable.

This model is a Blackbird exclusive; CMRTYZ is a two-man, hands-on, DIY operation and their Micro Shredders are the perfect example of everything that's right about their aesthetic.
